We've been laying low the last week and a half since Annie had her tonsils and adenoids out. Poor girl recovered like a champ, she had about 10 different friends drop off shakes, balloons, animals, crafts...sweet Annie was eating it up, and I think has now had ice cream for 10 days straight. She did great, and as of today, her mouth looks nice and pink and back to normal. Our follow-up appointment is on Tuesday, but I'm sure she'll get the all clear.
In recovery...sweet, precious girl.
An Olaf balloon from Emerson!
This was about 3 days after surgery, eating in a winter hat for breakfast like any normal person does in June in Houston, ha!
Working it!
She had been asking to go to Benihana, not by name, just describing the place with the yummy chicken fried rice (her favorite food), where they make it in front of you. So, last night, we met Jason there, Jacob has on the hat because he told them it was his birthday in 9 days, but that night was really about Annie...who yesterday was the first day she hadn't woke up crying from her mouth hurting. It had always started off hurting in the morning, I think because it was dry with sleeping all night, and then would get better during the day.
Yep, back to normal...Annie is definitely her old self again!
With the recovery and laying low, we've been doing lots of inside play, both Gwyn and Jacob both had sleepovers, playing games, making play doh, doing crafts. Here is Gwyn and Avery, before and after with the sponge rollers:
Epic Fail: Exploding watermelons on youtube must be doing something a little different than we did. Our watermelon still looks like this, about 3 days later...hasn't exploded yet! We need more rubber bands, or a different watermelon!
Love these two sisters:
Puzzle obsessed Brian, who would leave me with strict instructions not to touch his puzzle when he went to work each day, ha! He's done 3 this week...he's so getting old!
This down time must have done Jacob in...he took a nap each day during the middle of the day, two days in a row. On the second day, I was fixing dinner in the kitchen, he walks into the kitchen, flips the lid to the trashcan open and then pees in it! I start freaking out, but didn't want him to get pee everywhere. He finished, went back to the couch to finish his nap. I woke him up about 30 minutes later for dinner, he didn't remember doing it, or me talking to him and freaking out during it. Of course, this freaked me out, and had me googling lyme disease and meningitis and everything else that could make your 8 year old delirious enough to pee in the kitchen trash can. He was totally fine, just a freak thing, I guess he was kind of sleep walking??
I did get out of the house to take the kids to volunteer at Kids Meals this week. They provide lunches to preschool kids during the summer, we were bagging oranges for the families.
Having fun at the neighborhood pool, I loved this picture, girls and their sisters:
Glad to have this firecracker back in action again!
We played guess who's mouth...can you guess??
