Annual interview videos of the kids!

It has been a crazy week.  Jason closed on his house on Wednesday, hooray!  The kids think his new house is just awesome and that of course he had to move from his apartment because he needed stairs.  Gwyn didn't want to go to his new house and I asked her why and she said, "I don't want to get dirt in my shoes."  Typical girl!  I told her they had finished the landscaping so now it was nice and clean.  The kids think it is the best place ever to play hide and seek.  Brian traveled this past week, but made it home just in time to go to Gwyn and Annie's back to school night.  Thankfully, Rick stayed with us a couple of nights when he was down here for work and was able to watch the kids so Brian and I could both go to their school.  Brian went to Annie's class, and I went to Gwyn's class.  We stayed busy with ballet, play dates, soccer practice, back to school night, and Jason officially moved in on Friday.

The kids got their faces painted last weekend at church, Jacob was a pirate, Gwyn was a bunny, and we aren't sure what Annie was?  We realized the last couple soccer games that Jacob was kind of hanging back on defense even though he was playing offense.  We asked him about it, and come to find out he was able to block 3 free kicks (they make up their own rules on the playground) from a really good player at recess and the kids told him he was the best defensive player ever, so he really thought that is what he needed to play.  Too funny, we encouraged him to get up there and go after the ball and he scored a goal!
Sweet little Gwyn.  She was playing Life and landed on the spot where you can trade salary cards with any other player.  She had the highest salary card, and she looked around at how much money everyone had and decided to give her card to Brian and switch with him because he was losing, didn't have much money and had the lowest salary card.  Can you believe a 4 year old did that??  She has such a good heart!!  She loves her ballet class and will demonstrate what she knows to anyone who wants to watch!
Loved this picture Gwyn drew of bugs in a jar that we saw at her back to school night this week...she made her big brother proud by drawing those awesome bugs!
Annie's hands, have to document them here since I noticed the other day that I had missed putting them in her baby book when she turned 1..I'm sure this will make up for that!

Here are the videos of the interviews of the kids...I like to do this once/year or so.  It is fun to see their responses and how they act:

Funny things the kids said this week:

Me to the kids as we take off running to the car after church:  Last one to the car is a rotten egg.
Jacob:  Gwyn is a rotten egg!
Gwyn:  No, I'm not, I'm a beautiful egg!
Me to Annie:  What is in your mouth? (I had to ask several times as she had a guilty look on her face and I thought it must be a little Lego piece)
Annie:  A booger.
Jacob after his last soccer game:  We only scored one goal during the first half the sun was really in our eyes, I needed some sun glasses.
Me:  It didn't seem to bother the other team during the second half when the sun was in their eyes.
Jacob:  They must have really good eyesight.
Me:  Yes, I'm sure that is what it was.

Loving Life!

Our lives have been CRAZY since school has started this year...I can't even imagine how our lives will be once both Gwyn and Annie are both doing activities like Jacob!  Right now, Gwyn has ballet after school on Mondays and Jacob has soccer practice on Thursdays and games on Saturday.  He also just joined Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub...so cute dressed up in his little outfit (he doesn't like me to call it that!).  Pictures of that next week...I've got to get some patches put on, when we checked out I asked how to put the patches on and the guy told me to sew them.  Jacob piped up, "But she can't sew!"  Not to worry, I'm sure some stay at home mom chemical engineer invented this high-wear-durable iron on adhesive, that I gladly purchased for $9.00, ha!

Annie is just getting to be so entertaining!  She is talking non-stop, I think going to pre-school a few days a week has been good for both of us, she really seems to be coming out of her shell.  The other day, she told me she wished I was an old person.  I said, you do??  Who do you know that is old?  She said, Daddy with a huge grin on her face like she just knew she was making a joke!  She still cannot take a regular smile picture if her life depended on it, just love this smiling sweet face!

Jacob had his first soccer game, the orange and blue are also his school colors.  They got "creamed" their first game, but you could tell a big improvement between just the first and second half's of the game.

Gwyn and Annie enjoyed the game, our field was right by the playground:)  Gwyn brings her giraffe, Giraffey, everywhere and even buckles him up in the car:
You know she's a third child when I realize while we are at the game her doll she brought didn't even have any clothes on!

Gwyn had a playdate with a little friend from school...I got a call from her Mom who told me that they were doing a craft and Gwyn just took the scissors and chopped off some of her hair.  I just laughed, knowing that it was bound to happen sometime!  Luckily she didn't do much damage...I asked her why she did it and she just said, "I don't know."

I also got called to go pick Jacob up at school on Wednesday, he had a fever and after a trip at 5 pm to the pediatrician it was confirmed...STREP throat, yuck!  I've been following him around with hand sanitizer, and so far no one else has come down with it and he's been fever free since Wednesday night, hallelujah!

We had Jacob's back to school night this week.  I love being in his classroom and seeing all the things he has done that I didn't know he had done.  I got to sit at his desk and look through his writing folder...he's still big into making books...one about the Cardinals vs Astros:

Race car driving against his friends:
A book about his friends:
They had an "I can" wall, and here is what Jacob said:

All the kids are getting to where we are playing board games...we have much more luck with Annie with Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders, but Jacob and Gwyn REALLY wanted to play Life the other day, so we gave it a shot...Annie didn't quite get it:

Funny things the kids said this week:

Annie:  Gwyn is not being patient.
Annie:  Gwyn did a mean face at me. (she's learning to tattle with the best of them!)
Me to Gwyn:  Come here little Gwynnie bear.
Annie:  No, that's my little Gwynnie bear.
Gwyn:  Annie are me are sleeping just like Daddy does, just with our panties on!
Jacob as we're driving down the road:  Mommy's password is ---------! (and yes, you know you're in for it when your kid is singing a song with your itunes password!!)
Annie runs into Brian:  Daddy, Mommy did something right!!
Gwyn:  Why do builders use a bunch of dirt for a house, it gets all dirty??

Gwyn & Annie's 1st Day of Pre-K and Preschool

The day has finally come...Gwyn started pre-K and Annie started preschool in the 2 year old class...they are both in school on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-2...whooo hooo!  The first day of drop off my friend teased me that I was the Mom who peeled out of the parking lot leaving skid marks and smoke in my trail as a tasted some sweet precious hours of time without kids...I do LOVE my kiddos and am very blessed to be able to stay home with them, but in the few days I've had so far, I've done my wood floors, cleaned out a cabinet, went up to Jacob's school to be the mystery reader, had a room mom meeting, exercised, grocery shopped alone (this is done amazingly much quicker and cheaper!), and worked a full day for Jason.  This year is exciting for me, I've finally got some time to do some things I've been putting off for too long, and all at the same time be able to miss my kids so that when I pick them up, I'm excited about them being home!

Sweet little Gwyn is in the pre-K Turtle class, she picks out all of her clothes (and Annie's).  She talks non-stop:)
 Love that precious face!
Little Annie Jaye was excited for school, I thought she might cry when I dropped her off, but she did good.  She's in class with her little friend Claire.

Here is a video right before I dropped them off on their first day:

Jacob had his first project.  I did my best to not make it MY project.  He had to create a "Me" poster of 5 things that he was all about.  He chose bugs, sports, Star Wars, family, and favorite foods.
Gwyn did her own little project:
And Annie of course found a way to make a huge mess while I was helping Jacob:

I had to take a video of this because I was finding bits of paper EVERYWHERE...apparently Annie is working on her fine motor skills...please recognize she is a third child using safety scissors...this would have never happened when I just had Jacob, ha!

He came home with his grade today, he got 100% and an E!  And the finished product:
Jacob's life is as active as ever.  Brian is coaching his soccer team, and they had their first practice last weekend.  They have orange uniforms, and are supposed to select a team name...it is always fun to hear what they come up with!  I did get an email from Jacob's teacher on Friday about some excitement on the playground...apparently the boys found a dead squirrel with its head cut off and Jacob was one of the curious ones who picked it up.  He claimed he was bringing it over to his teacher, yuck!  Of course, yesterday, I see a news clip about a girl who got bubonic plague from touching a dead squirrel and I've been checking him out daily for symptoms.

Jacob's name got drawn and he got to take the class stuffed animal, Kodi, home.  He had an exciting weekend with us...he got babysat by Gwyn and Annie and he got to be goofy with Jacob:
He got to eat at Chick Fil A:
He got to help replant some plants in the landscaping with Jacob and Brian, and he also got to go to some friends house for a pool party...what a lucky dog!
 Annie with Jacob's goofy glasses:
 Gwyn with Jacob's goofy glasses:
Brian's company had a suite at the Texan's game on Sunday, and Brian's project had it for the game.  Brian and I went to see the game, it was a lot of fun!
I love Jacob's writing.  This is a note he sent to his Nana and Papa.

Here is a video of our family bike ride on Sunday, I hope no one throws up from watching this...remember I'm trying to ride my bike and video at the same time...oh, and after I finished the video, Jacob ran into a parked Mercedes...nice...both he and the car were okay!

Funny things the kids said:

Annie:  I cried Mommy.
Me:  Why did you cry?
Annie:  Because I wanted to.  But I'm not going to cry next time.
Gwyn:  I can hear my heart beeping.
Jacob:  Gross, Annie licked my boat! (his boat being the laundry basket)
Annie:  No, I didn't...I chewed it.
Gwyn:  Daddy is little.  Next to Jesus he is.
