Happy Father's Day to Brian...he's a great Dad as you can see:
Gwyn was able to get her cast off on Monday...it was a very long 4 1/2 weeks of no swimming, but we finally made it and thankfully it healed perfectly and she is as good as new! We sent the nurse a gift card to Starbucks and a card drawn by Gwyn because he did such an awesome job on making her cast, and he cleaned it all up for her so that she could take it home to keep (yuck, but I did spray it down with Lysol!)...I love that this experience was made so much easier by someone like him who did such a great job with Gwyn.
A friend of mine had mentioned to Gwyn that she should have a party when she gets her cast off. That very good friend suggested this on the second day that Gwyn had her cast, so I literally have been hearing about this party and who was invited and what we were going to do for the past 4+ weeks (multiple times / day, all day long, week after week). Needless to say, I taught that friend's son how to text, so I kind of got her back, ha! Gwyn had been counting down the days to her party, which was really just a few friends over to swim, but we had lunch and Brian made an awesome cake at Gwyn's request. Her is the last pic with her cast:
One yucky, smelly hand, and she really wanted to keep the finger nail that we clipped off her pinky...luckily, that got lost in the bathroom!
She just can't believe how funny it feels!
Awesome cake!
Celebration with friends!
Rick and Sue visited for the weekend, the kids love their G and Grandpa! They were able to watch one of our first swim meets, help with Jacob and Annie while I took Gwyn to get her cast off, and Sue got to go to Gwyn's "Get Cast Off Party." We've been riding our bikes up to the pool each morning for swim team practice. It has been pretty fun, and Sue got to do this with us a couple of days while her and Rick were visiting:
I just love Annie in this little nightgown, she is just the sweetest, silliest little girl!
We made a trip down to League City to visit the Mulsows and meet their new baby Will. He was just precious, and such an easy baby...can't believe it took us so long to meet him, he's almost 5 months! Annie was still a little jealous of me holding another baby:)
Funny things the kids said this week:
Annie: I can't find rhyming socks (matching).
Annie: I can't wear these clothes, they are too bouncy.
