The weather here has been beautiful and we've hit the park a few times this week. Annie goes crazy at parks, she thinks she can do it all and is constantly up, down, back again. She is the most high maintenance baby at a park that I've ever seen, I think she thinks she is 4 years old or something. She runs and screams with excitement and takes off as fast as she can for the slide...over and over again. Oh, and she likes to go down the slides on her stomach backwards or head first, it doesn't matter, whichever can get her down the fastest so that she can go back up again. Here are Jacob and Gwyn at the park:
It has been a whirlwind week, we keep so busy I find myself running around constantly. Dropping off kids at preschool, grocery shopping, running errands, picking up kids from preschool, going to speech, going to reading class, going to parks to meet friends, the fun just never ends! I felt really bad on Tuesday morning walking into drop Jacob and noticing that all the boys were dressed up in collared shirts with their hair fixed. Yep, I forgot about picture day. I look down to realize that, of course, Jacob dressed himself in a star wars hooded sweatshirt and has his regular bedhead hair sticking up all over the place. We decided that it wasn't so bad since it was his favorite shirt and it would represent how he normally looks:) I can remember his first few picture days that I laid out multiple outfits the night before, fretting over which one to pick that would work the best with the background that I had called the school about to see what color it would be. Oh, the joys of having more than one child and trying to manage it all! Ha! We also went to the doctor this week for Gwyn's 3 year old check up and Annie's 15 month old checkup. Annie was 31 1/2 inches and 21 lbs 3 oz (50th percentile in height and 20th percentile in weight). Gwyn was 38" and 31 lb (75th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight). Gwyn got one shot, and Annie had to get three shots, oh the screaming, crying horror that went on in that office! We also found out that poor Annie had an ear infection, so we are doing antibiotics for the next week.
It was a big week for Gwyn this past week, I guess good things happen to those who turn 3! First, Annie and I got to go to Gwyn's birthday chapel at school this week. Gwyn was called to the front during chapel, and the kids sang to her. She stood there with her little head down, embarrassed. She's just too cute!
Next, Gwyn got to go to Tadpoles at church with Brian and Jacob. This is something very special that Brian has been doing with Jacob for the past year and a half. It is just for Dads and their 3-6 year olds at church. They go and get to play a game, have a snack (which is the most important part), do a craft, and have a story and prayer. The kids love this time with their Dads, and now that Gwyn is 3, she got to go too. She was SO excited about going, and even more excited about riding in Daddy's car with the windows rolled down. She had fun and can't wait to go this week. Lastly, Gwyn tried out a dance class at The Little Gym this week. She went with a friend who will be moving in across the street, and was SO excited about it for the past two weeks that we've been talking about it...that is, until we got there. She cried and hardly did anything for the whole hour. She got brave again at bedtime and told me she wasn't going to cry next time. I guess we'll try one more week, but if she cries again, she is just going to have to be a dance class dropout since it is a bit stressful for me to go back and forth to sooth her, while watching Annie and Jacob out with the rest of the moms and siblings for an entire hour. She was proud of her dance outfit:
Rick and Sue visited for the weekend, and Brian and I got three glorious days of sleeping in, 7:30 is SOOO much better than 6 am! The kids enjoyed their grandparents, we went to the park, played outside, went to the bookstore, they took them to see the movie Gnomeo and Juliet, and had a great time together.
I love how the grass is worn underneath Jacob and Gwyn's swings. Jacob loves to be pushed higher and higher, and Brian and I enjoyed the relief of swing pushing duty!
Funny things the kids said this week:
Me to Gwyn at the Dr's office: That wasn't so bad, wasn't the Doctor nice?
Gwyn: No.
Jacob: Why doesn't R2D2 or C3PO have light sabers?
Me: Ask your dad when he gets home (I use this one a lot)!
Gwyn: Jacob doesn't like pretty stuff, he just likes cool stuff.
Jacob: Why don't robots have hair?
Brian: They don't need to keep warm like humans do.
