Gwyn's Last Day of Preschool & All-Star Jacob!

Sweet little Gwyn had her last day of preschool last week.  Annie and I went up to watch her in a program, had an end of year class party, and then we went out to Chick Fil A to celebrate with a couple of her friends.  I will spare everyone the shaky video, I had to hold Annie at the same time and that makes videoing very hard, it will pretty much make you sick to watch it, but no worries, I'm sure Gwyn will be more than happy to sing all the songs for whoever would like to listen!

I tried to get a picture of them together, but Annie didn't really want to cooperate, she had her eyes on the popsicles that they just brought out!
Such a sweet little girl!
Her little class:
Jacob will go to school until May 31st...he opted for a faux hawk this week...such a cool kid!
Gwyn came home from her splash day with tattoos everywhere, she loved her tattoo on her forehead:
Annie is still my little ornery one...this was her posing for me...she's still loving those hand me down twinkle toes that don't light up anymore, ha, if she only knew what they used to do!
One trip to the doctor last week...Annie had red blotches all over her.  Turns out it is hives, she's been on benadryl for the past week and they are slowly getting better.  If they last longer than 2 weeks, we'll have to see an allergist.  Our doctor said they rarely figure out what it was, no new foods or change in anything we've been doing, but poor thing has been looking quite terrible lately!
I had to go to the doctor because I was feeling awful, and I came home to this...family nap time, although Jacob is faking, he was the only one awake, but when he saw I was going to take a picture of them all napping he wanted to act like he was asleep...he'll also do this if he wants to be carried to bed, and I always have to do it because I can remember fake sleeping so that my mom and dad would carry me to bed when we lived out at Candlestick!
Looking so cool, I gotta wear shades!  This one is loving all these baseball games...snow cones and ring pops!!
How can you possibly fall asleep on the top corner of an upside down chair???
There must be something seriously wrong with me as a mom, but I had to take this picture of Annie after swim lessons.  This was her second lesson, she did great her first lesson and LOVED it.  This time she did awesome for about half the time, and then all the sudden just refused to stop kicking, stop trying, stop doing anything.  She was mad, but she's just so stinking cute in those goggles!

Jacob's little team the Hooks got 2nd place in their play-off tournament.  His game got rained out, then they started playing a different game and it got rained out after 2 innings (but on the plus side, Gwyn got to see two rainbows on the way home and she claims she's been waiting her whole life to see a rainbow!).  They finally got to finish their game and lost.  They were all pretty excited to get their trophy, those things are like gold around here...Jacob wanted to sleep with his, we compromised on him setting it on his bedside table!
Here is a video of him getting his trophy:

Jacob also made the All-Star team, made up of 3-4 players from each of the teams, and they are playing a tournament this week.  His All-Star team is the Astros, and we've won two games, and play in the championship tomorrow...he's pretty excited about being an All-Star. Here is a video of him getting a double and hitting two runs in tonight:

Jacob is continuing to write notes, I've been having him write requests to help him practice writing and spelling.  Skeeters is a little restaurant that has chicken strips that he likes, and they were having a spirit night for his school, so Jacob wrote this to Brian:
Jacob got an extra ticket for how much work he put in on this...you can't read the writing that well since it is written in pencil, but this one says "Crabs crawl in the sand.  Some crabs have shells."
This one says, "Sharks can hurt men.  Sharks are dangerous"...he spelled it danjris, he's definitely sounding the words out!
This one says, "Swordfish have a sword. Swordfish are dajrares." I think that one was dangerous too:
Fish swim.  Fish are scared of sharks.

I had no idea what this one was, but it was pretty cool:
Funny things the kids said this week:
Jacob:  Mommy, come on.
Me:  Hang on Jacob, give me a minute.
Jacob:  But you got your 5 minutes of peace yesterday!
Annie to Jacob:  You the best Jacob in the whole world!
Jacob to Annie:  You're the best Annie in the whole world!
Jacob after Brian almost pulled out in front of someone:  Daddy, you need some driving lessons! (Brian did NOT think that was funny, heee heee!)
Gwyn to Brian:  When I grow up, can I get 5 minutes of peace like Mommy?

Field Day, Grandpas visit & Mother's Day!

Jacob had his field day on Friday, and I was able to go up and volunteer for the three legged race.  I was just in charge of tying two kids legs together, it was not the funnest job and it was super hot!  Jacob's class wore purple bandannas and they had so much fun.  He was soaked and had a blast.  Afterwards, I apparently signed up for the teacher break as well, which meant I stayed in Jacob's classroom and watched the kids during some free time while his teacher had a 30 minute break.  I'm a hit with the Kindergarten girls and boys...I drew a picture of Darth Vader pitching a baseball to R2D2 on a baseball field...they were all impressed:)

It's just not an authentic field day until there is blood!
Gwyn and Annie are home with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so we painted this week.  Annie is now banned from all paints, she always needs more, more, more paint and decided to give herself more after I went to do some laundry.  She's also banned from toothpaste, once we figured out that it was her who was squeezing it all over the counter top, then rubbing her tooth brush in it over and over.  I should make a list of all the things she's banned from, since Brian and I are both banning her from things left and right these days!
Annie begs to watch the fish and see the birds at Westside after I'm done working out, I love the "awe" look on her face when she tells me which fish she likes the best...she's so cute!
Here are Jacob's Spring pictures for Kindergarten, I love how they have his name and year on them and he's posing with his scruffy little boy dirty shoes...school pictures have come along way since we were in school!
Rick and Brian's Grandpa came down for one night, to watch the Cardinals play the Astros and while they were here they got to take Jacob to his playoff baseball game and see him hit two doubles and a triple!  Here are the 4 generations:

Here is a perfect display of Annie's mood....she didn't quite warm up to Great Grandpa:(
She does like her Grandpa though!
And she loves to swim with her floatie...we start swim lessons this next week, Jacob and Gwyn will be taking them together in our pool, but Annie gets one on one instruction by herself...Lord help the swim coach!
Jacob is my little fish and loves to swim:
 Annie being Annie:
It seems we all (except Brian who is apparently immune to everything) got a little sick this last week, and this much needed nap by both girls at the same time was needed, and yes, it was Benadryl induced:
Jacob ready for another playoff game, and in a VERY exciting and nail biting extra inning, they made it to the championship!!
I took this because it was so funny how it looks like she is trying to run even in her sleep!
The girls have discovered snow cones at the concession stand!  Gwyn will keep running over to the concession stand giving me updates every few minutes as to when it opens so that they can get one, since we have to get there so early for warm-up it doesn't open until right before game time:
 She's just so stinking cute!

A great start to the summer...the ice cream man, it is amazing how the kids don't "hear" me when I tell them to do something, but their ears are attuned to the ice cream truck from a mile away!
 Yummy!
Yes, we realize it is the championship of a little league game, but we are serious here!
I had a very sweet Mother's Day with the kids, and then we met Jason and did a combo lunch for Mother's Day and Jason's birthday this week.  Her are my presents I got from the kids...Jacob made me the card and Gwyn made me the picture frame.  Jacob also got me some orange bath salts that they made at school and he said I get "5 minutes of peace."  I asked if I could get 5 hours of peace and he just kind of looked at me like I was crazy, ha!

Gwyn made this at school, she thinks I'm 21 and she says what I love the most is to hug her...so true!
I had to throw this in there, she fell asleep on me today and she has been snoring since she has had this cold.  I also had to take her in to Target because I left my box of diapers in the bottom of the basket in the parking lot and forgot to put them in the car (I had other bags and had discovered that Annie's diaper had leaked as I was getting everything into the car).  Target ended up giving me another box, which was really nice and told me Happy Mother's Day, I love that store.  Anyway, we were standing in line and I was holding Annie who started snoring and it freaked the lady out in front of us, she thought it was an animal or something in line behind her, ha!

Brian had to work late one night, so I took all the kids up to Westside after school for some jumping, it was really nice because I got to sit and read a book and they all jumped in their individual trampolines:
B
I had Gwyn's end of the year conference with her preschool teacher...she's basically the best kid they've ever had, ha!  I was very proud, here is her self portrait, I love that the shoes have a major emphasis...she's a girl alright!
We love The Very Hungry Caterpillar around here, so when Jacob brought this home from school I had to capture it on here, love that kid!

Funny things the kids said this week:
Annie (to Brian):  Daddy, it's raining on my toes.  (He looks up and she's peeing on her feet, she had taken her diaper off in another room)
Gwyn (after we told her we were going to a fancy place for dinner):  Like when Fancy Nancy went out to dinner??
Gwyn:  When I grow up,  I'm going to get my belly cut open.
Me:  Why do you say that?
Gwyn:  Because that's where my babies come out! (apparently, a friend at school had a new baby sister and had a c-section:)
Jacob after I told him to go feed his frog:  That one is just a bully frog, I don't like him.

May is here already??

Oh how we are loving this early part of summer, I can't believe May is here already and Jacob will be done with Kindergarten at the end of this month?!?!  I loved this picture of Annie that I got tonight after dinner.  She loves swinging in the swings on her belly, and what could be better than doing that with a fudgescicle??  We've had a fun week, baseball, a gymnastics birthday party (where again, Brian showed off his skills), crepes for breakfast at Jason's, etc.  We are getting close to the end of baseball season.  Jacob had his last official league game last night, and they got serious:
His team finally won a game!!  Jacob got a single and a double, and is determined to get a home run.  His team will go to the playoffs this weekend, and we found out that Jacob will be one of the 4 boys from his team to play in the all star game, how exciting!!  I know, I'm a braggy mom, but hey, he is AWESOME!
Loved this moment, Brian coaching third base with Jacob on third:
Silly Annie who is hard to keep up with and makes watching the game difficult!
Sweet little Gwyn had a snow cone at the game and was all smiles!
Jacob has homework each night, and Gwyn begs for homework.  So, I usually make up some homework for her, I thought this was just too sweet, both of them doing their homework together:
I can't get enough of these sweet little sisters...well, I can some days:)
Here is our pet lizard for about 3 hours.  Gwyn said, "did we get a pet?"  I said, "Um, no, why?"  She said, "there is a lizard on the table."  She said it like it was no big deal, I kind of freaked, got a glass bowl, and waited for Brian to come home to save us all!
Jacob loves to climb this tree...I wish we had a really good climbing tree because this crepe myrtle will not be lasting for much longer with this going on everyday:
Jacob's friend Ben came to spend the night last weekend.  They had a blast.  Baseball, ice cream truck, swimming, more baseball, pizza, cookies, and star wars...Jacob LOVES sleepovers!
After 5 1/2 years of having kids, we're finally getting organized around here!
Gwyn's school had Muffins with Moms this morning, she didn't want to sit by me:(  She wanted to sit by Claire.  Her teachers did tell me a funny story about her making this comment when the class troublemaker wasn't in school.  She said, "He's not here, cool!"  They just laughed, apparently she just said out loud what everyone else was thinking!  That poor kid has such a bad reputation in our house, Gwyn gives me a play by play of every toy he took out of some one's hands, everyone that he kicked, how he is on yellow, and the list goes on and on!
Annie was happy to take part when muffins are involved:
Just a fair warning...if offered a napkin in my house, decline it.  Go for the paper towels.  Annie has all the napkins out all over the place all the time.  That goes for straws too!
I was putting laundry away upstairs while the kids were playing and came back to get my basket and I found this little one fake sleeping:)

I am loving these notes from Jacob  that show up all over the house:

He loves math, and has me constantly quiz him in the car.
Again, can you believe a 5 year old boy drew this picture??  He is AWESOME!
Very important things for boys to know:
Funny things the kids said this week:
Annie (singing in to herself):  Mommy is my best friend, Sissy is my best friend, Jacob is my best friend.
Annie to Jacob:  That's enough, Jacob.
Annie (after she fell at a birthday party and I picked her up while she was crying):  I want Ginny.
