1st AND 2nd Visits from the Tooth Fairy!!

It has been one exciting week around here.  Jacob lost his first tooth on Wednesday and his second tooth on Thursday.  I had told him Wednesday morning we were going to pack a whole apple in his lunch because we were determined to work that tooth out of there, and sure enough it came out at lunch that day!  He was so excited, his teacher gave him this little green box to keep his tooth in.  I was walking out to the bus stop, and checked my email and his teacher had sent me a note that he had lost a tooth at lunch, so I had my video camera on my phone ready when he got off the bus.  I just wish I would have started the video earlier because when the bus pulled around the corner he was standing, ready to get off, you could just tell he was itching to spread the news.  It was so cute.

With Brian being gone all week, I was out of $1s so the tooth fairy left a $5 bill.  Jacob wrote the tooth fairy a note, saying, "can I have a wii please."  I tried to tell him that was little ambitious for the tooth fairy, and reminded him about how we read that book about how little she is and that she can't carry much.  When he came downstairs Thursday morning, he was excited about the $5, but said that he probably should have left his light on because she wouldn't have been able to see the note and thought it was trash or something.  Yes, that is probably why you didn't get a wii, ha!
The next day, I got another note from his teacher that he lost his 2nd tooth at lunch.  Apparently, he put it in a ziploc from his lunch and then accidentally threw it away.  A VERY sweet teacher (who I must do something very nice for!!) dug it out of the trash for him.  She said she couldn't look at his face with at least trying and luckily it was near the top!  Jacob is likes having both his bottom teeth gone, he says a straw fits right in there and so it is working out great for him, ha!

I had a very rough week, with the time change the kids were up every single morning at 5 am something.  I was exhausted and ended up getting sick yesterday.  I think it just all caught up to me, and I am VERY glad that Brian is home!  I did enjoy letting each of the kids sleep with me at night, they are so sweet when they are asleep, ha!  I did solve about a month long mystery of Jacob and Gwyn saying that their tooth brushes didn't have any tooth paste on them, when I knew that I had pasted them all.  I saw Annie picking every one's tooth brush up and sucking off the tooth paste, and then brushing her teeth with her own.  The little stinker was eating everyone elses toothpaste, apparently it tasted too good!  I'll have to switch to the "spicy" stuff!

Here is a video of Jacob reading...he's doing so well, it is so fun to hear him, especially now that he can read things on TV/at the store/etc!

Jacob finished out his soccer season on Saturday.  It was a great group of kids, everyone improved tremendously, and they all had a great time.  Next up, basketball and we've already signed up for that!

I can't believe Thanksgiving will be next week.  I'm starting to realize just how fast this year is going by, and next year Gwyn will be in Kindergarten and gone all day just like Jacob.  I do love having Tuesdays and Thursdays with both girls, and I'm trying to take advantage of that and spending some quality time with them.  They both love playing games and swinging, so that is what we did all day on Thursday!

I took all three kids to the doctor on Friday, they all had their flu shots and Annie had her 3 yr old check up and Jacob had his 6 yr old check up (I'm a little late, I know!).  Jacob and Annie both got to have the flu mist, but Gwyn had to get an actual shot because of her issues with breathing/lungs when she gets sick.  Poor thing lined up right after Jacob and Annie had theirs and the nurse asked her if she wanted it in the arm or the leg.  She said, "want what?"  Poor thing was so confused, she didn't realize she was getting a shot.  She was a trooper though and shockingly didn't cry!  Annie weighed in at 29# and 37" (30th percentile - she is still our runt!), Gwyn was 39# 43" and Jacob was 50# and 47 3/4"...almost 4' (60th percentile). Annie did great on her vision test, and Jacob did great on his vision and hearing test.  I know at least one of them is going to get my bad eyesight, hopefully we're still a  few years from that!

The weather here in Houston is gorgeous...it seems kind of wrong that we can wear tank tops and flip flops still...I just love that we live close enough that I can walk up with the girls and pick Jacob up from school on these nice days:
Here are some pictures of artwork the kids brought home.

Gwyn loves to do homework when Jacob is doing homework, I thought this was funny that you can barely tell the difference in mine and Gwyn's handwriting!
I loved Jacob's sentences for his spelling words, he wrote:  "I like to swim and swing in the summer.  Our pool gets scum some times.  My mom and dad think they are cool.  My dad tells cats to scat." ha!
Another 100 on his spelling test!
These are the books the kids came home with from school...it is pretty easy to guess who picked out which book!

Gwyn has invented carpool aerobics while waiting in line for drop off at preschool:

Funny things the kids said this week:
Jacob:  I'm going to be president when I grow up.  You just have to be 35 and born in the united states.  Daddy, you are 35, you can be president.  Wait..were you born in the united states?  (Brian says yes) Then ya, you can be it Daddy.  Mommy, girls can be president, but you can't.  You aren't 35.  (yep, that's why!)
Jacob:  It is Mitt Romney vs Barack Obama.  (after he finds out who wins)  When do they play again?  (I think he thought it was some type of game/competition!)
Annie:  She has beautiful lipstick on (talking about one of her dolls)

Rapunzel, a Ghost and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Oh what a fun Halloween we had here!  The kids have been counting down, and we really lucked out this year as Jacob wanted to be a ghost, Annie wanted to be Rapunzel (which Gwyn was last year, so we already had that costume), and Gwyn wanted to be Aurora (Sleeping Beauty, and we already had that dress-up costume).  Annie did request Rapunzel's hair at the last minute, and I couldn't find it.  The night was great, we started at a friend's house for dinner and playtime and then hit the streets.  We had about 9 kids in our group and Annie lasted with the best of them!  Here's my ghost:
 Sleeping Beauty:
 Rapunzel:

Jacob really wanted to go to his teacher's house.  I told him I didn't know where she lived.  He just said, "Just look at a map."
 Here's part of the crew:
Annie enjoyed some witch's brew...Hawaiian punch with dry ice:
 Collecting their loot:
 Brian's pumpkins:
The girls and I surprised Jacob for lunch this week, we brought him Smashburger and here he is acting like a goof ball:
Which lead to these two acting like goof balls:
Jacob had his last official league soccer game on Saturday...we have one tournament on Saturday where we will play as little as 1, as much as 3 games to finish the season:

 Gwyn loves her rainbows!
I love some of the stuff Jacob brings home.  I like that he put one source of sound was his mouth "mawth."
He still loves to make books.  This one says let's have a racse.
Daylan is coming up!  Jacob goese fastr!
The rase is to day. Jacob is wening.
Jacob and I were writing notes back and forth.  Yes, it is hard to tell the difference between our handwriting!
Funny things the kids said this week:
Annie (after Halloween, in the saddest possible voice):  It's over.
Annie (who is VERY dramatic these days):  I lost my puppy forever (when she couldn't find her puppy).
Me to Jacob:  Look at your fingernails, go wash your hands. (every single finger had black dirt under the nail)
Annie:  It is going to get on my beard (talking about spilling juice on herself)
Me to Annie:  You're my baby girl, you'll be a big girl when you are potty trained.
Annie:  I'm never going to be a big girl (all upset).
Me to Jacob:  Look at your fingernails.  Go wash them. (every single one had black dirt underneath)
Jacob:  I like them like that.

We were at a neighborhood party and the boys were playing shirts and skins football near the bayou.  All the boys had their t-shirts tucked into the back of their pants so they were hanging out like tails.  Gwyn took one look and decided she was going to be just like her brother, and the next thing we see is Gwyn running around with her shirt off and it tucked into the back of her pants.  It was so cute, but I did tell her to put her shirt back on:)

Pumpkins!

We love this time of year, and we especially like going to the pumpkin patch!  My little punkins are getting so big, I'm sure I'm going to have to start dragging Jacob there.  Annie is somewhat getting better at making a regular/normal smile for the camera...this has been a very LONG time coming!
 Sweet little Gwyn:
I did make the mistake of telling Jacob that if he could carry it, then he could get it...of course he was going for the biggest possible one that he could lift!
 They could pass as twins!
We had a very busy weekend, first hitting up Gwyn and Annie's preschool Fall Festival, where I turned around and this is what I saw...what happened to my sweet little Jacob!
Sweet Gwyn had a beautiful flower on her face:
 Annie had a unicorn:
I had taken the girls to the dentist, this picture was so funny, she laid there perfectly still for about 20 minutes while they cleaned her teeth....loved how her little legs looked in this picture, ha:
I had both Annie's and Jacob's conferences with their teachers this week.  We are doing Gwyn's in January since she's on track to start Kindergarten in the Fall, we did receive her progress report, and as usual, she's doing great!  Annie's teacher told me a funny story about how Annie basically had a meltdown one day and they turned her card from green to yellow.  When they did that, she basically lost it...completely.  She was so upset about having her card turned.  They said they would turn her card when she calmed down, she told them she was ready, and she has not once cried since.  It was like they had a breakthrough.  I told them that Gwyn reports daily on who in her class gets their card turned, and Annie always told me that her card didn't get turned.  I didn't even know she had cards in her class, I thought she was just saying that because that is what Gwyn would say about herself.  We figured out that is why the cards meant so much to her because she was being told by Gwyn who got in trouble in her class every day, ha!  Jacob's conference went great, he's doing really well.  He loves math and drawing, his writing and reading is on track and improving, he has really grown so much just since August.   She told a couple of funny stories about Jacob being so serious and animated when he talks, I love it!  She said she had a picture of a raccoon on the board, and he and his friend had this very serious conversation about how you never take a raccoon into a bank because of their fur around their eyes looks like a mask and they might think it is there to rob the bank??? WHAT???  They had half-days at school on Thursday and Friday, so on Thursday a big group of us met at the park for hours of fun...I think there was about 25 kids there, it was nuts, but the kids had a blast:)

I had to include this to document that the girls were drug to numerous soccer/basketball/baseball games, this one in the 45 degree morning after our much needed cold front hit Houston:
Gwyn has really been wanting her haircut, she's got two little friends with short hair and she said she wanted it done, so we did it.  She dresses herself, non-matching striped green shirt, purple pants, blue socks and sparkly gold shoes!
She is so stinking cute in this little haircut, I LOVE IT!
Of course the pumpkin master brought his A game this year again...carving two pumpkins, here is the warm up:
Here are the kiddos with Brian's masterpiece for this year, which he carved at a pumpkin carving party with some friends.
Love my sweet Jacob and his little notes. He walked up and put this in my pocket.  It says, "I love you.  I love playing with you.  I want to kiss (cise) you and can I play with you.  You are awesome Mommy."  Love that sweet boy!
I had to throw this picture in there to document what I'm up against in my house...I mean really, kudos for putting another roll of toilet paper on, but REALLY, I have to say to take the old one off...I should have left this on and seen what happened when the second roll ran out!
Funny things the kids said this week:
After reading a book to Jacob about if you catch a live giant squid it is worth millions of dollars...Jacob:  Mommy, we have to tell Henry to catch one and then we'd have a million dollars.
Me:  You mean, Henry would have a million dollars.
Jacob:  Well, yeah.
Gwyn telling Brian:  Go faster Daddy, we're beating up to them (about another car).
Jacob (who is big into non-fiction books these days):  Frogs, they eat worms you know.
Me:  They do?
Jacob:  Yes, they do.  I researched.
Gwyn:  I like all the colors in the world but black and brown and white.  Well, I do like white, so all but black and brown.
Me:  Well our hair and eyes are brown.
Gwyn:  Actually, I do like brown a little.
